During my visit to Facebook Singapore office, a lot of friends asked how did we get the opportunity to visit. It was mainly because we are under their managed advertisers program for high value clients and we were there for catch up.
In case you are also running Facebook ads and wondering how to be invited to their office and how much ad spend you need to get a rep, well, I’m not exactly sure too. But in this post I can briefly share what I’ve experienced.
Facebook Marketing Specialist VS Facebook Account Manager
When I started running Facebook ads back in 2017, not long after, there was a Facebook Marketing Specialist who reached out to me via email and arranged for a call so he could provide help to my ad campaigns. This guy was really helpful as he gave me some good strategies. However, a few months later, another Facebook Marketing Specialist called me and tried to advice me on my ad campaigns, but this time it wasn’t of much help. (probably because I already know the basics)
That was when I realised these marketing specialists were probably just random help given out to people who needs them and actually responds to them. They provide support for a quarter and usually it will be rotated to another person.
I later knew of some friends who had a Facebook Account Manager and came to learn that it’s different from a Facebook Marketing Specialist because it’s like a higher tier of managed support.
About a year plus later, I received an email from a lady who said she is from the High Value team and would like to provide managed support to my business.
Of course I responded and eventually, we discussed about my marketing plans, what does success look like to me and how to work together to achieve that.
Not just huge ad spend. Building a brand matters.
While having huge ad spend could probably be one of the factors to getting an account manager, I believe how you are using Facebook to build a brand also matters.
Many eCommerce dropshippers who used to have an account manager no longer have anymore. Probably due to the irregularities of their ad spend and some are not really focused on building a brand – they test for a winning product and scale it until it no longer profits before moving on to the next product. I believe they want to work with brands and to really partner them to grow their business.
Looking back at the support given so far with an account manager, I must say it has been beneficial. The insights and strategy provided have contributed to our growth. Facebook Ads are not the easiest to run. Yes perhaps it is easy to use the platform, but when it comes to strategy, it certainly requires a lot of effort.
That being said..
You don’t need to have an account manager to succeed at Facebook ads.
In case you’re wondering if we have any extra perks/support, there may be, like getting free ang bao packets during Chinese New Year 😂
But it’s not pivotal to your success in using Facebook ads to grow your business.
You just need to run and test enough to know what works and how to achieve your desired goal (be it more leads or more sales)
